Drum fest: Drum and Bugle Corps to perform at Middleton High.
This year’s Drums on Parade drum and bugle performances will offer an additional three hours of entertainment with a pre-show tailgate party featuring the 18-piece Jeff Peronto Jazz Orchestra and the trombone ensemble Hot Cross Bones.
The tailgate party will kick off at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Fireman’s Park, with the main show starting at 6 p.m. next door at Breitenbach Stadium at Middleton High School, 2100 Bristol St., in Middleton.
Pizza, beer and soda will be for sale at the tailgate party to help the Madison Scouts Corps cover an annual $800,000 operating budget. Donations have dropped from $100,000 to $64,000 in the past last year, officials said.
“We’re just trying to help everyone know anything they can do to help the corps is very much appreciated,” said Robin Goldberg, fundraising coordinator and Madison Scouts alumnus.
And in return, Goldberg promises “six hours of entertainment they’ll remember.”
At 6 p.m., the 57th annual Drums on Parade will feature eight drum and bugle corps from the Midwest, including the 2008 Drum Corps International World Champion Phantom Regiment from Rockford, Ill., and, of course, the Madison Scouts.
Tickets for Drums on Parade are available in advance at www.drumsonparade.com and at the gate.
