Public asked for help in playground fire investigation
Wisconsin State Journal

Madison fire investigators are asking for the public’s help after a playground in Sauk Heights Park on Madison’s Far West Side was destroyed by a late-night fire Sunday.

Firefighters arrived at the playground on Bear Claw Way shortly before midnight Sunday and found the play equipment and the rubber surface engulfed in flames, public information officer Eric Dahl said. They used water to put out the fire. No injuries were reported.

Officials are considering the playground a total loss with damage in the realm of $20,000.

Monday night, Assistant Chief Jim Keiken said it was still too early to tell if fireworks were a factor. Investigators are interviewing neighbors to help determine the cause of the fire.

Anyone with information about the fire should contact the Madison Fire Investigation Office at 608-266-4488.
