Pioneer Cemetery is one of three historic burial places on the grounds of the Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Sauk County. A tentative agreement would allow them to remain intact on the site. Federal, state, tribal and local officials are working to transform the former Badger Army Ammunition Plant into restored prairie and oak savanna. A tombstone dating to 1868 on the Badger grounds has been repaired by the Army. U.S. Army installation director Joan Kenney enters Pioneer Cemetery on the Badger grounds. The cemetery has records of 234 burials.
