The stairs leading to Madison's 44-year-old central library are crumbling. The city is deciding whether to renovate the building or build a new library as part of a larger redevelopment project.
The design and site of the Fiore Cos. proposed $43.6 million central library on West Washington Avenue hasn't generated much controversy, but city officials are scrutinizing the cost. Mayor Dave Cieslewicz said he'll make a decision about pursing the library by September.
The design of the proposed new library features a two-story entrance on West Washington Avenue.
