After getting more than 13 inches of rain in a week's span, Sauk County was declared a disaster area for the second time in less than a year due to widespread flooding.

"There's not one area of the county that isn't impacted somehow," said Jeff Jelinek, the county's emergency management director.

Many communities county-wide sustained major flooding, with Rock Springs and Spring Green particularly hard-hit. Parts of Spring Green are still under water. At one point, five shelters were set up around the county to handle evacuees.

The World War II-era Original Wisconsin Ducks were used to rescue people from homes and businesses in Baraboo.

More than half the roadways in the county sustained damage, and early repair estimates top $5 million. The water treatment plant in Reedsburg was damaged, and could require up to $2.5 million in repairs.

In Rock Springs, the Baraboo River crested at 28.47 feet, almost 10 feet above flood stage.

By the numbers:

1,305 homes damaged
60 percent of highways in county damaged
200 people rescued by Wisconsin Ducks
