E-MAIL STORY
Because of her three weeks working as a volunteer at the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, Judy Wolff of Holmen now is fully disabled. Wolff said for months after La Crosse-based Logistics Health Inc. won a federal contract to provide health care to the responders living outside of New York City, she couldn't reach a company representative and her requests for reimbursement for medical costs were denied. Logistics Health Inc. of La Crosse, above, has seen a huge increase in its federal contracting business since it hired Tommy Thompson, former Wisconsin governor and former U.S. Secretary for Health and Human Services in 2005. Earlier this year, the company won an $11 million contract to provide health care services to ailing 9/11 responders.
