Rich Trotta walks to the office of the Colonial Motel in Middleton. The motel, owned by Rich's brother, Tom Trotta, has closed and will be torn down. The 31-unit motel is the last of the traditional family-owned motels in Middleton.

There is no high-tech, electronic room access system at the Colonial Motel in Middleton; just keys with plastic tags.

Some of the character of Parmenter Street in Middleton will soon go away as the Colonial Motel has closed. The 31-unit motel, which used to have Highway 12 passing in front of the property, will be razed to make way for an office building.

Room rates at the Colonial Motel in Middleton were among the most affordable in the area. Some started as low as $37 while a room like this rented for $59 a night.
