Thousands of people flocked to West Towne Mall Friday to take advantage of after-Thanksgiving sales. The mall was expecting about 60,000 people Friday. A slow economy has hampered retailers in recent months, but shoppers were finding good deals on Friday. The malls and large retailers weren't the only stores busy Friday. Smaller, locally owned businesses, like Orange Tree Imports, 1721 Monroe St., also had holiday shoppers. The store offers an assortment of gifts and kitchen and houseware items.
