The improved gates of the Lake Delton dam are designed to allow 45 percent more water to pass through the dam. Lake Delton should start to refill tonight after it drained into the Wisconsin River in June. The breach has been repaired and the Lake Delton dam includes a new emergency spillway to better manage excess water. The gates of the dam and the main spillway have also been modified. Paul Werner of MSA Professional Services helped oversee the improvements to the Lake Delton dam for the village of Lake Delton. Workers from the state Department of Natural Resources add rotenone to a pool of water in Lake Delton. The chemical kills the fish, primarily carp, and will allow the DNR to start with a cleaner lake when it begins restocking this spring.
