Signs point the way for highways 14 and 78 in Black Earth. A state resurfacing project begins April 15 and Highway 14 between Mazomanie and Middleton will be closed to regional traffic starting June 15. Vintage Liquors owners Susan Meigs, left, and Pat Michels are concerned about the impact of Highway 14 construction on business. Their store is in the building at right along the highway in Black Earth. About 50 percent of their business last year came from tourists who travel the highway. David Boyer, manager of Rookies on Highway 14 west of Black Earth, wonders how his business will fare once the highway closes for construction this summer.
