Clients come and go from the lobby of the Catholic Multicultural Center in Madison Thursday. The center, which offers educational, spiritual and social services to low-income people, is being closed by the Madison Catholic Diocese due to budget cuts. The Madison Catholic Diocese spent $3.5 million in 2002 to build the current home for the Catholic Multicultural Center, whose history dates to 1946.
Volunteers Alfredo and Carmen Araujo stock shelves at the food pantry at the Catholic Multicultural Center, which closes today. Staff members were scrambling Thursday to figure out where to send the excess food.
