June Klann uses her GPS unit to track down a geocache hidden along the Yahara River Trail in Stoughton.
David and June Klann, avid geocachers, check a cache left in an ammo box hidden at coordinates along the Yahara River Trail, where they ran into another geocacher. There are hundreds of caches in the Madison area, and more than 11,000 in the state, sought by geocachers using GPS units.
The Wingra Park cache was a film canister containing a log book and signed by the finders, who also log their experience on a geocaching Web site. A geocache, placed in April, was hidden inside this tree spire in Wingra Park. Parks workers found it when the rotting tree was removed last month. Reportedly, they re-hid the cache.
