A Wauzeka man has been arrested for his alleged 8th drunken driving offense.

Daniel G. Peters, 34, has also been tentatively charged with knowingly fleeing an officer, operating after revocation, speeding and a probation violation.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department said that shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle that was speeding on Highway 18 near Military Road in the town of Fennimore. The driver of the vehicle refused to pull over and fled from deputies, who lost sight of the vehicle but not before capturing the license plate number with the use of an in-car video system.

The vehicle was later spotted by Iowa County deputies near the village of Montfort. After a short chase, the driver was taken into custody. Peters remained Sunday in the Grant County Jail.
